Casa Do Mel (House of Honey) - This much loved Traditional Portuguese style house, is our second home, recently refurbished, offering the perfect holiday location and is accessed by a long private, gated, driveway , set back 400m from the road in a quiet, tree lined valley. The stone arched entrance hall leads to the lounge, tastefully, furnished in a homely, French country style. The principal rooms are very spacious with 4 bedrooms in the main house and a 5th in the attached annexe, with its own kitchen/utility. The house is set in extensive, mature and sheltered gardens (4000sqmetres) with lawns, flower beds and trees. The 10m x 5m pool is set in front of the south facing house and to the rear is a large, typically Mediterranean style, enclosed, courtyard with olive tree, vines and a built in barbecue for alfresco dining on those balmy summer evenings. In this idyllic location, it is hard to imagine that all this is just 10 minutes walk from the beach and restaurants.
House of Honey; a name that perhaps, evokes a romantic image in your mind. Casa do Mel is a unique and beautifully refurbished, traditional Portuguese villa, which has an innate charm, immediately apparent from the moment you first arrive. We have had some wonderful comments from our recent guests, but don’t take our word for it, read the comments yourself. Select 'Guest comments' from the menu box above to see why it really is 'A little piece of paradise'.

What's on TV? Well, you can pick up all the main freeview stations that you get back in the UK , even your favourite BBC region, using our giant satellite dish and digital HD receiver.
The digital HD receiver has the benefit of a hard disc recorder with user friendly on-screen functions to; pause/resume and rewind live TV. -- watch a recording from the start, or an earlier position, whilst it is still recording. -- simultaneously view a programme whilst recording another. -- record two programmes simultaneously. All using click select from the screen programme menus, by remote control without the need to programme any start or finish times. Just like back in the UK, so if you're eating out, just record your favourite programme and watch it later. If all this seems a little confusing, just ask one of the younger folk, they'll probably know what to do.

A recent and popular addition:
The 4 swings which include one for baby or toddler, are nestled in a shady spot amongst the trees near the tarzan swing.
You have obviously put a lot of thought into making sure that the kids can entertain themselves. The pool table, table tennis table, pool, swings and slide were all well used and because there were lots of things for them to do, they didn’t get bored.
Keith Stephenson - July 2009
We purchased the house in December 2006 and started work right away, in January 2007, carrying out extensive refurbishments and improvements to the property, including major re-rendering and decoration of both interior and exterior walls, new floor tiling to most of the ground floor, rewiring and addition of many new electrical points and lamps, the installation of Air conditioning, a new Wood Burning Fire and surround, new granite worktops to the kitchen units, enlargement of the dining room, Complete replacement of all of the furniture, beds, bedding, rugs, curtains, etc, etc.
Outside we have also been very busy and have repaired and repainted the courtyard and roof terrace walling and in the front garden, the wooden chalet, decking, barbecue and table tennis areas, have been added, offering additional social spaces for your enjoyment.
Since then during each winter period, we have completed lots more improvements to the the annexe building including all new floor tiling, newly furnished and tiled en-suite shower room, with marble top and shelf, new utility cupboards and granite top. New d/g door and windows with shutters, stone facias and window sills to match the main building.
The addition of an American pool table for the 2008 season in the newly extended entrance hall.
Outside the Courtyard has been enlarged with additional lighting and the old barbecue has been given a chimney and spotlight.
During the Winter of 2008 we have made lots of improvements to the outside space with the addition of a childrens Jungle Gym , Climbing frame with slide and lookout platform, also a bank of 4 swings including one baby swing.
During Winter/Spring 2009/10 there were further improvements to the gardens with a new secluded, circular seating area, more lawn space, more flower beds, flowers and fruit trees and additional irrigation. The poolside tiled area has been increased with a new solar heated pool shower and steps at the deep end of the pool. The Badminton/volley ball net, now has a dedicated area on the lawn of the Annexe garden, in the shade of the tall trees. Outside lighting now includes 6 new uplighters to trees in the side garden and parking areas with new lamps for the childrens play areas and another to illuminate the parasol round table. Inside the house the decoration has been refreshed and uplifted with some new lamps, pictures and furniture. The TV and satellite receiver have been upgraded to the latest technology.
We intend to continue upgrading and improving our Villa, so if you also love Casa Do Mel, and want to return for another holiday, you can be assured that the standard will be even better next year.
Having a holiday rental villa is lovely, but the problem is, we just love being at Casa do Mel and hate to leave it! - John & Maggie
'The beautiful Santa Eulalia beach is only a 7 or 8 min walk away and was a perfect location to spend our afternoons. This is one of the best beaches I have been to in Europe and would thoroughly recommend it'.
Chandlers (UK) June 2008
In and around Albufeira
Albufeira and the surrounding villages, boast some of the best restaurants in the Algarve, excellent variety of nightlife, and wonderful beaches, watersports and of course, almost guaranteed sunshine - something for all the family. There are many good supermarkets and shops. The Algarve Shopping Mall, an all round shopping experience, with famous names like Zara, Mango, Pull & Bear and several designer shops, lots of restaurants and multiplex cinema is just a 15 minute drive.
The famous Zoomarine, near Guia is a superb ocean theme park, a year round attraction, the best in southern Europe with several large aquariums, sea life shows and fun fair – a great family day out, you can even, by pre-arangement, swim with the dolphins.
Aqualand or Slide & Splash waterparks are also a short drive away or by bus, with regular bus pick up points in and around the resorts of Albufeira.
For golfers, local courses include Salgados, west of Albufeira. The 18 holes there have been likened to Florida as they narrowly meander through many small lakes. Balaia Golf, on the Olhols d’Agua road and quite close to Casa do Mel, is a 9 hole course, ideal for sharpening up your short game. Slightly further East, the picturesque Pine Cliffs course, part of the Sheraton hotel complex, overlooking Felesia beach, is is a challenging 9 hole layout, used by many visiting pros, with a challenging cliff to cliff, over the ravine shot.
The Albufeira area is a truly excellent all year round holiday destination, established because of its superb, unspoilt beaches and large selection of restaurants, shops and bars. An ideal choice for a family holiday.
The Algarve coast just south of the mountain range has an enviable micro-climate with more than 300 days of sunshine annually.
